We do this fundraiser each year in lieu of a gift exchange between the children in the Primary and Infant Community classrooms. We feel that all of our children are very lucky, have many toys, and will benefit more from learning about sharing with the most needy of us.
Heifer International’s mission is to increase sustainable development and end world hunger and poverty. Through gifts of livestock and training, Heifer International provides long-term development through economic independence, rather than short-term relief. More information on the organization can be found on the web at www.heifer.org.
We will be collecting donations in the month of December. After we return from the winter holiday break, the children learn how much money has been raised, and decide on an animal or animals to give a family in a developing country. If you’d like to find out more about the animal gifts the children can choose from, and the benefits those gifts will provide, please view the Animal Friends videos from Heifer International that we have made available on our website below.
Donation checks may be made payable to OWM; we collect funds and issue a single check to Heifer International. We put our fundraising thermometer up on the white board at the lobby entrance to track our progress.
