Who We Are
Since 1979, One World Montessori School has been committed to providing a complete Montessori education that incorporates an excellent learning environment, foreign languages, classes in the arts and parent education. Our objective is for children to become independent, self-reliant people, aware of what they want from life, with the tools necessary to achieve their goals, develop a sense of self, and make their unique contribution to society.
Establishing our school as a non-profit corporation has allowed us to provide a high quality, full educational environment for children at the lowest possible cost. Over the years, One World Montessori has educated thousands of children and enriched the lives of their families as well.
Our children come from all over the Santa Clara Valley and as far away as San Francisco including: Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Los Altos, Campbell, San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, and Fremont. We have three locations in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California, the heart of Silicon Valley.
The founder of One World, Rebecca Keith, Ed.D. is Head-of-School of the Primary program. She is also a co-director of the Maria Montessori Teacher Training Center. As a former classroom teacher, Rebecca Keith brings over 35 years of teaching experience to One World. One World Montessori is privileged to benefit from the many unique curricula created by Ms. Keith, including Peace Education, a United Nations’ Day Celebration and an Earth Day Celebration. She also co-founded the Montessori Phoenix Project, which brings free Montessori training and materials to some of the most impoverished regions of the world. Ms. Keith is a sought-after speaker and guest lecturer, and has spoken at such prestigious institutions as the University of California at Berkeley, Stanford University and Cornell University. Ms. Keith is a proud recipient of the 2015 “Wisdom of the Elders” award which is given by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) to distinguished Montessori educators in recognition of a lifetime of dedicated, heartfelt service to Montessori education. She was also awarded first place for the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation from the American Montessori Society (AMS)
Jeanette Montoto is Head-of-School of the Elementary program, as well as a Lower Elementary teacher. Jeanette has been with One World since 1980 when she joined us to begin and develop our Elementary program. Trained in Primary as well as lower and upper elementary, she has created an innovative addition to the history curriculum unifying both the vertical and horizontal time lines in exciting concrete experiences.
All our Montessori teachers are Montessori trained and are supported by the school in their commitment to expand and upgrade their skills. Our assistants are all fully-trained preschool teachers and are involved in on-going in-service training to become more knowledgeable about the Montessori philosophy and environment.
