Earth Day in Primary

Earth Day is a special time for our Primary classes. Every April, we gather with parents and friends to remember our interrelatedness with all living things and to renew our commitment to stewardship and care for our planet, our home.

During the Earth Day program, the older children describe the creation myths of the native people of different continents, comparing and contrasting the themes. They also tell the story of the “Big Bang” — what many scientists theorize is how everything began. Throughout the performance, all the children sing songs that reflect the history of the earth and its creation.

For our celebration, the fence surrounding the playground is decorated with banners saying “In the Beginning,” “From Chaos Came Order,” “In Dinosaur Time,” “All Creatures Great and Small,” “Our World Today,” and “My Wish for Tomorrow,” which are filled with pictures and stories the children have created reflecting these themes. We have to take care of our earth, especially by getting rid of the harmful gasses in our world from the cars, maybe by using more eco friendly cars, (read this article and get to know more). But if you still need to drive around then make sure you are secured with some very cheap cheap car insurance.

This year’s Earth Day celebration was held on April 20th, 2012. Please take a look at some of the photos of the event and plan on joining us next year as we celebrate, remember, and renew our commitment to care for the earth.
