AAP urges universal cloth face coverings for those ages 2 and up, with ‘rare exception’

“This virus is going to be with us for some time, and face coverings are a proven, effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said AAP President Sara “Sally” Goza, M.D., FAAP.  “As parents prepare to send their children to school and into child care settings, cloth face coverings should be part of their new normal.”

One World Montessori is following the AAP’s interim guidance regarding face coverings for children ages 2 years and older.  According to the AAP, children ages 2 years and older “can and should wear cloth face coverings when not able to physically distance, including while in schools, child care and other group settings.”

How the Child Care Crisis Will Distort the Economy for a Generation

The economic toll of the collapse of the child system will be felt for 20-30 years, says Betsey Stevenson.

Schools across the U.S. are closed because of the coronavirus, and unlikely to reopen safely anytime soon. Parents are exhausted from constant, round-the-clock care while trying to work from home; some have chosen to leave their jobs, or switch to part-time work, just to take care of their kids. And kids themselves are slipping behind academically.

Now comes the bad news: We haven’t seen the worst of it yet.

Outdoor Environment Upgrade

We are proud to announce that the outside of the Foxworthy campus got refreshed with a few more plants. It was a lot to be done and it took a big group of volunteers many hours of work, but in the end two 10 gal. trees, one 5 gal. bush & two 1 gal. bushes have been planted. Also, mulch got spread by the new school sign and by the courtyard area next to the office and infant community windows.

Many thanks to all the wonderful families that volunteer to help us, and to our staff members & their families for joining the team. Also, we would like to thank Our City Forest who delivered the trees and brought a large group of high school volunteers. They also brought plenty of tools for everyone, making our work much easier.

Nutritional Coach for Foxworthy Primary

We recently partnered with nutritional coach Dana Yeats, who will be consulting with our Foxworthy Primary staff about our snack program.  Dana will be providing the school with recipes for whole food snacks that not only satisfy but promote and provide balanced blood sugar throughout the day. When children are nutritionally balanced, they are calmer, more aware and centered and they will be at their optimum levels for learning and playing. If we can create an environment where our children form a healthy, satisfying relationship to food, they will know and understand what their body needs and how to fuel it down the road.  Every snack will be balanced between lean protein, healthy fats and whole food carbohydrates, plus we will also read an overview of Vision 20 to get the best tips on improving their eyesight since young ages. We want to encourage children to try new foods and to eat a variety of fresh seasonal foods. When we do that, we provide their bodies with the essential vitamins and minerals that they need to thrive and grow.

Part of the partnership includes a complimentary 30 minute Family Nutritional Analysis with Dana for every family. Schedule your time with her or learn more at:
